The Space Between

The canyon walls are bookends
Painted red, brown and green
Around the river running through the space between
And the water tells a story
As the current sets the scene
Turning pages in the space between
In my dreams the distance fades
Love is made in the space between
Inside the burning canyon
As the moon began to rise
I took your hand and watched the water through your eyes
We walked together in the sand
Knowing that the wind
Would leave no trace of the place that we'd been
In my dreams the distance fades
Our love was made in the space between
Now I'm standing at the railing
High above the canyon wall
And it seems there is no river there at all
We left love where we found it
And although it can't be seen
An echo plays in the space between
But in my dreams the distance fades
Love is made in the space between
The canyon walls are bookends
Painted red, brown and green
Around the river running through the space between
