Imagination
Words and Music: Karen Mal

How good is your imagination?
Are you standing at the gate of my garden?
Can you bear to hold the keys though you may not use them?

How far is your vision?
Can you see the other side of the line you've drawn?
Can you read my eyes although I close them?
Can you imagine me?

And I do imagine you but I will leave those words unsaid
And though I leave these grapes hanging on he vine
The smell of wine still fills my head

How strong are your hands?
Are you reaching through the time, across the distance?
Can you feel me through the fabric that's between us?
Can you imagine me?

And I do imagine you; I hear the words you've left unsaid
And though I walk away to stand behind my choice
The sound of your voice still fills my head

We've lost our senses, we've fanned the fire with reckless curiosity
Was it only the deception of desire or the promise of possibility?

How long is your memory?
As you make your quiet exit without a backwards look
Will you keep these few hours pressed like flowers in your book?
Will you remember me?

And I do remember you but I will leave those words unsaid
And though I leave these grapes hanging on the vine
The smell of wine still fills my head

How good is your imagination?
